hi all,
Was just wondering if there is a desktop application one can use to access twitter, similar to outlook. I've mannaged to sign up via the web, but that's all.
Please excuse my stupidity.

try Sees.micn. it's a desktop thing wich manages both twitter and facebook at the same time. can't remember if it will only manage twitter though. the link should pop up at the bottom of your twitter home page.

oh btw, not always though, it's on a rotation, so you just have to keep refreshing until it comes up. if that's not what your looking for try API.

www.qwitter-client.net
API is qwitter.

I've heard that one must work with jaws scripts in order to effectively use twitter? Is this correct?

Post 7 by maroon five (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Friday, 31-Jul-2009 22:05:06

yes quitter does, and it sometimes doesn't work at all. if you don't want to install scripts, then look at others that don't need them.

an alternetive could be if you use the klango program, previously the klango player, they have a twitter app that is accessable via the programs menu

Post 9 by maroon five (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Friday, 31-Jul-2009 22:26:23

i think you have to be a member of clango first though. i'm not so don't kno, but people i kno who use that are so...

Post 10 by maroon five (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Friday, 31-Jul-2009 22:28:56

i'm not saying don't use it, just trying to make sure you kno before deciding to use it then having to sign up for something you probablly don't want.

hmm very confused. perhaps someone could contact me privately. Remember, when it comes to technology, I'm rather resistant.

Post 12 by Reyami (I've broken five thousand! any more awards going?) on Saturday, 01-Aug-2009 10:49:03

Yes, you do have to be a member of Klango, but thank god that's free.

You could also use ping.fm for this. It updates all your social networks at one time, and you can connect it to your Windows Messenger, AIM, or Skype, so all you have to do is send a message to it like you're messaging a regular person. Only it posts your message for you.

ok, thanks

Post 15 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Saturday, 01-Aug-2009 21:38:51

You don't need jaws scripts for qwitter, I don't know where you got that from. Chris fixed the bug with jaws in 2.31 so it always works. If yours is acting up, send him your log files.

Yeah love using Qwitter.

Post 17 by tear drop (No longer looking for a prince, merely a pauper with potential!!!!!) on Sunday, 02-Aug-2009 0:48:10

where can one aquire qwitter?

Post 18 by maroon five (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Sunday, 02-Aug-2009 4:39:06

quitter is also API. it may work for you, but it didn't for me, and that's fine. i'm not sending my log files to anyone...it's not a big deal, cause the websight is fine. it's not necesary to have a client to run twitter.

Post 19 by tear drop (No longer looking for a prince, merely a pauper with potential!!!!!) on Sunday, 02-Aug-2009 9:09:52

I don't recall asking you for your log files? rather defensive?

Post 20 by DancingAfterDark (I just keep on posting!) on Sunday, 02-Aug-2009 15:26:16

http://qwitter-client.net

Amazing, I love it, *rave*

Also, I think Liz was referring to the person who said to send your log files to Chris if you're having trouble with Qwitter with her most recent post.

Post 21 by tear drop (No longer looking for a prince, merely a pauper with potential!!!!!) on Sunday, 02-Aug-2009 16:02:42

Post 23 by maroon five (I'm going for the prolific poster awards!) on Sunday, 02-Aug-2009 20:08:49

Post 24 by tear drop (No longer looking for a prince, merely a pauper with potential!!!!!) on Sunday, 02-Aug-2009 20:51:54

Can anyone tell me why I'd be getting a failure to open error with quitter after set up?

Post 25 by blindndangerous (the blind and dangerous one) on Monday, 03-Aug-2009 1:25:21

Post 26 by SingerOfSongs (Heresy and apostasy is how progress is made.) on Monday, 03-Aug-2009 6:24:08

ON the qwitter downloads page there's a link for a redistributal from microsoft some people need to run qwitter. The link says:
The Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package 32-bit
IF anyone needs any help with qwitter, let me know. I'm @miahtech on twitter, and am one of the people involved with the qwitter project.
